Hip Hop Pantsula
Windhoek — Hip Hop Pantsula, aka HHP, is a popular hip hop artist in South Africa. As I walked to meet him outside the New Era head office, I started shivering. I was so nervous because as I did not know how he was going to act. He smiled and I immediately felt at ease.
Jabulani Tsambo was raised in Mmabatho. In 1997 him and his school recorded their debut album, Party, with producer Chicco Twala, but the band split after the release of the album. Tsambo then met singer/producer Isaac
Mthethwa, who then worked full swing on his debut album.
The result was Introduction, an album that introduced a new, vibrant and innovative genre. The album was recorded in different South African local languages like Setswana, isiZulu and Sesotho.
HHP, also a solo hip hop artist, star sign is Virgo and he is single!!!!!!! He lives in Johannesburg with his son, now seven years old.
His solo music career started in 1999 but before all this it was just a hobby. At the moment his trying to secure a contract with a huge independent record company in America. He has his own deodorant called Status HHP Respect. He did the advertisement with his son to promote fatherhood.
HHP thinks the Namibian weather is hot, maybe too hot. But this does not compare to her beauty and cleanliness. The streets are clean; traffic is wonderful compared to South Africa. Namibia is rich in culture and heritage.
If Ms Right emerges from Namibia, soon HHP would move here. His favorite food is Chinese chow mein and sushi. This acquired taste was introduced to him by his dancing partner in Strictly Come Dancing.
HHPlikes to spend time with himself, whether it’s listening to loud music at his house, or shooting hoops in his backyard. He is a believer; his weakness makes him strong in God.
He will release a new album on the 7th of September, after which he will also be touring. Hopefully Namibia will be on his tour route. Him and crew assure that they will be seeing us in November 2011, whether for holiday or a bit of entertainment. So look out for that.
Currently HHP is also working on a movie. And there is more in his future plans. You won’t believe this but its true! He is going to walk from Mafikeng in South Africa to Kenya in 2013.
His music taste? The most embarrassing artist that one might find on his mp3 player is Abba’s,Dancing queen, laugh out loud!
He really want to perform in the Namib Desert. His dream is that Jay-Z must open a show for him.
He does not only rap but he can also sing. He writes his own songs and he enjoys it, “it’s the best way to express”.
